“I’ve come here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And I’m all out of bubblegum.” It’s a quote that’s most often associated with Duke Nukem, but I believe it actually originated with Rowdy Roddy Piper’s character in “They Live”, a cult classic film. I’m not sure which is the inspiration for the title of this game, though I personally hope it’s the latter. “All Out of Bubblegum!” picks up where “まもって騎士” (Protect Me Knight) left off. Protect Me Knight gave you some mild tower defence features by letting you build fortifications. All Out of Bubblegum! takes that idea perhaps to its inevitable conclusion, by letting you build formations in three dimensions, and by giving you a large assortment of weapons, vehicles, and more. This is one zombie game that’s anything but indie games channel filler, it does a lot of interesting things and does them well, including a weapons shop that you revisit periodically throughout the game which lets you tailor your loadout to your play style. Go full auction by decking out your characters with weapons, or a hybrid of action and tower defence by purchasing defence turrets. For 80 Microsoft Points, this is strongly recommended as a guilty pleasure.
