Day 460: Balls

Posted: 2012/02/13 in Indie Games

Vagabond1982uk and Philip Muwanga show us they have “Balls”. Specifically pool balls. Philip Muwanga you may remember for “Philip Muwanga’s Hexy Trench”, a game I reviewed waaaaaaay back on Day 7. Day 7! Yes, 453 days ago.

As opposed to “8 Ball Pool Champion”, which is another 80 Microsoft Point pool game, and one that is trying to be serious and classy, “Balls” has avatar-style graphics. But whether you’re an avatar fan or not, you’ll appreciate the greater wealth of pool options, the online play, and the great physics (though both pool games I’ve reviewed had that, thankfully).

But in the immortal words of a legion of infomericial hosts: but wait, there’s more!

“Balls” takes the unusual tack of adding in playable demos of two other games, including “Philip Muwanga’s Hexy Trench”, a strange addition given every XBLIG has a free playable demo, but I suppose it’s a way to promote their other offerings. It also has a fully playable complete second game, “Grunt Assault”. Hard to argue the value since it costs only 80 Microsoft Points.

Here’s what the developer (Vagabond1982uk) has to say about the game:

“Philip Muwanga proudly presents: Balls, a comprehensive bar room pool simulator for Xbox Live Indie games. Bring your avatar down to ‘Phil’s fruit & Juice bar’ and take on all comers in games of eight ball or nine ball. Customise the game’s setting to match your local pool rules then challenge the world over Xbox live. Also includes Grunt Assault, and demos of HexyTrench & Extreme Jigsaw Madness”
