(Note: video is from the first “Hack This Game”.) I enjoyed the original “Hack This Game”, as it invoked classic 8-bit games I played on the Commodore 64 (specifically “Hacker” and “Hacker 2: the Doomsday Papers”), though in hindsight it reminds me also a bit of the computer hacking in the classic C64-era platformer “Impossible Mission”. All of these are very good things. “Hack This Game 2” brings back the “Mastermind” password guessing gameplay, and those who loved the first game will love this one just as much.
This sequel doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, or to lure in players who tried and didn’t like the first game. It’s simply a new set of puzzles for those who enjoyed the first one and wanted more of the same. And there’s nothing wrong with that. 80 Microsoft Points for this level-pack-style sequel.
Here’s what the developer (Utopioneer Games) has to say about the game:
“These 4 were the first to beat this game, how far will you get? Play through increasingly difficult puzzles and test your reflexes.”
