Day 533: EvilQuest

Posted: 2012/04/26 in Indie Games

“EvilQuest” is a retro-styled action RPG in the vein of some Japanese RPG greats, but with the hook that you’re playing as the bad guy.

Well, in the same way that Wolverine (of the X-Men fame) is sometimes characterised as a dark character. You aren’t killing orphans for the whole game, for the most part you’re simply responding to a betrayal and exacting your revenge, which are motives not unknown to so-called good guys. Still, there’s an interesting hook with the storyline not being the typical “save the world” style.

Putting the setting aside, “EvilQuest” is an 80 Microsoft Point, Zelda-esque, action RPG with a bright, attractive look. And I don’t know any better recommendation than that.

Here’s what the developer (Chaosoft Games) has to say about the game:

“In EvilQuest, take on the role of Galvis — a dark knight obsessed with ultimate power. Set out on a quest of revenge, destruction and conquest in this exciting retro Action RPG title. Along the way you’ll unlock ancient mysteries, discover legendary weapons, relics and magic…and of course kill thousands of those foolish enough to stand in your way!”
