Wow, 600 reviews? Where did the time go. The game I reviewed waaaaay back on Day 1 was a Kris Steele/FunInfused Games title called Hypership Out Of Control, along the way I reviewed FunInfused efforts like “Abduction Action!”, “Nasty”, and the recently reviewed “Hypership Still Out of Control”, but it seems only appropriate to review another Kris Steele game for Day 600, and that game is “VolChaos”.
A platformer that’s somewhere in the middle between the classic PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 “Bonk” games and modern super-hard platformers, “VolChaos” (which I presume is short for Volcano Chaos) fills an interesting niche. The visual aesthetic invokes an Indiana Jones motif, but with a character the trailer notes is inspired by Chuck Norris.
Like with “Abduction Action!” and other Kris Steele favourites, the game takes itself no more seriously than it absolutely has to, and that’s to the game’s benefit. It’s a collect-’em-up platformer, so you can complete the game somewhat easily, or you can go for collecting everything under the sun which will take longer and put you in more danger. 80 Microsoft Points for this platformer with tight controls and a pleasant personality.
Here’s what the developer (Fun Infused Games_0) has to say about the game:
“Volchaos is a challenging old school platformer. Playing as a heroic explorer, you must navigate through dangerous volcanoes in search of precious gems you can use to pay off your mortgage, bad investments, and alimony. To further complicate matters, the lava is continuously rising and an array of enemies stands in your path. Will you become rich? Heck, you will be lucky to survive.”

P.S. Happy Canada Day!
