“Transgression” is a bit like I imagine classic arcade game “Joust” might have looked like, if it had been reimagined by cyperpunk author William Gibson. But where Joust was a non-scrolling, one-screen affair, where the screen wasn’t exactly full of enemies, Transgression has you scrolling through the visual representation of a computer system, looking for passageways to new areas, and doing it while a non-stop stream of enemies comes at you. The game gives you a good sense of exploration (looking for passageways to escape the current area while also watching the enemies works well in this regard), and is a interesting game for 80 Microsoft Points.
Here’s what the developer (Unit-E) has to say about the game:
“Transgression is a classic arcade-style game with cyberpunk flair. The player assumes the role of a hacker who illegally enters a series of computer systems, battling with security drones and system administrators to steal data, collect cash, and wreak havoc.”
