Imagine if you took the combat from Zelda, and reimagined it with a vibe that invokes elements of 3D Dot Heroes, Smash TV, and “I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1”. You’d end up with something like “Retro Arcade Adventure”.
You have 8-bit graphics that are reminiscent of Zelda, paired up with the arena gameplay of Smash TV, huge numbers of enemies like with “I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1”, the ridiculously huge swords of 3D Dot Heroes. Heck, one of the huge characters even reminded me a bit of playing Mike Tyson’s Punch Out (one of the first games I played with characters that seemed to be nearly as tall as the screen). It’s a combat oriented game, so don’t mistake the Zelda reference to suggest you’re in for a sprawling RPG, but it’s a great guilty pleasure for 80 Microsoft Points.
Here’s what the developer (SIACTRO) has to say about the game:
“Retro Arcade Adventure is an arcade styled game with retro graphics. It is reminiscent of a “one against many” game with fantasy game typical influences like swords, dragons and potions. During his battle the Player can use the magical powers of orbs in order to strengthen his sword, to heal himself, or to even turn into a fire-breathing dragon.”
