I suppose this will be a love it or hate it game for a lot of people, but “Car Washer Summer of the Ninja” has enough neat things going on that I had to check it out, and I liked what I saw.
To earn summer spending money, you open up a car wash. As they say, though, it’s location, location, location, and the Ninja Car Washing Corp. has objected to our hero’s chosen location. You must manage your business (buying equipment, etc.), wash cars, and defend against ninjas, sometimes simultaneously.
What’s neat about the game is that there’s a cute storyline to it, and that’s what sets it apart from light business sims, or ninja-themed car washing action games (if that was, you know, even a thing before this game). Some may balk at the 240 Microsoft Point price, but that’s only because we’ve become accustomed to games of ridiculous value at 80 MSP. If had only XBLA games as comparison, I think people’d complain about the 240 MSP price point less.
Here’s what the developer (Pen and Sword Games) has to say about the game:
“You’ve started a car wash to earn money over summer break. Unfortunately, Ninja Car Washing Corp. doesn’t appreciate the competition! Wash cars quickly but beware! Those pesky ninja will do everything they can to run you out of business. You’ll need to use your wits, reflexes, and collection of basic car washing tools to defend against their attacks while keeping your customers happy.”
