I’ve long had a soft-spot for games where you control multiple characters. Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee was a revelatory experience for me, for example.
“Divided” is a 2D game that lets you control multiple characters, which as I note has been done before, but what’s different here is (as the name suggests) that you can stay as one entitry, or you can split into two simultaneously controllable characters. I’ve seen games that do one, and I’ve seen games that do the other, but this is the first time I recall seeing one that offered both.
The puzzles are generally quite well crafted, and some of them are quite challenging, with some puzzles appearing to me to be solveable in multiple ways. Each analogue stick controls a character, and you can use one to assist the other. Use one character to jump off the top of the other, and I think you’ll be hooked. For 80 Microsoft Points, and with two-player co-op, there’s a lot to like here.
Here’s what the developer (Angler Games) has to say about the game:
“Divide your character into two independently controlled characters with Divided ”A genuinely unique and mind boggling platform game“ Divided will take you into beautifully crafted levels that are designed to test your reactions and brain power. If you get stuck splitting your brain in two then get a friend to join in with an easy drop in co-op system and tag team the wide variety of puzzles”
