Day 850: Avatar Monster Truck

I’ve been a fan of games where you whip through a course (in a side-view) all the way back to Pitstop II on Commodore 64 (and recently repopularised with games like Trials HD). I’m a big fan of “a great many of the games released by developer Maximinus Games”, of which this is another. I’m a big fan of games that let you race against ghost cars representing the developer’s run through the game (and this game, as a bonus, adds the ability to race against *both* the developer’s ghost and your own ghost car).

And that, in a nutshell, is why “Avatar Monster Truck” is worth 80 Microsoft Points. You can add in that the courses switch direction on you occasionally, which is different and rewards those who can lay off the accelerator at the proper moment. In fact, in general I appreciate that this game rewards people who don’t keep the accelerator mashed the whole way. The “Avatar” element is manifested in a picture-in-picture window showing your avatar reacting as you drive, which is kind of cool too. Another solid effort from Maximinus that’s worth a download.

Here’s what the developer (Maximinus) has to say about the game:

“Loop the loop with your Monster Truck! Ride through all the obstacle courses, and beat the developer ghost record. Trial is more fun with a Monster Truck!”
