Day 869: 2D Voxel Madness

Posted: 2013/03/28 in Indie Games

Like a crazy cross between platformer “VolChaos” (another FunInfused game) and Miner Dig Deep, “2D Voxel Madness” adds the one thing that many of Miner Dig Deep’s critics said it needed: tension.

A bit like Sonic Spinball and others before it, a lot of the fun comes from pulling off crazy jumps and other antics. And like a build-it-yourself mining game, you have the ability to put those jumps where you want them, and realising where you can, or should, be aimed for is part of the challenge. it’s a neat sandbox game to mess around with for 80 Microsoft Points, and it’s nice to see a sandbox platformer for a change. Finding crazy points in the map to dig down to, or jump up, reminded me a bit of the fun I had messing around with Halo’s physics engine, trying to exploit it so that I could get to the places I wanted to go. If you’re that kind of player, there’s a lot to like here.

Here’s what the developer (Fun Infused Games) has to say about the game:

“It’s time for 2D Voxel Madness to the EXTREME! Build expansive worlds, fight evil enemies, and search for treasure in this 2D Voxel world. Nothing is unpossible as you fashion new worlds all your own. This is a great game to play if you enjoy platformers, mining, or fun.”
