Day 882: White Noise: A tale of Horror

Posted: 2013/04/10 in Indie Games

I somehow got well into reviewing this game before I noticed it was from one of my favourite XBLIG developers: “Milkstone”, a developer for whom I’ve reviewed too many games to list. This is a huge departure, from a developer who’s known for huge departure (so how big a departure is it, then?).

“White Noise: A tale of Horror” is apparently an improved version of a game I’ve never heard of called “Slender”. How improved it is I can’t really say given my unfamiliarity with it. But what’s here is very good.

You are stuck in total darkness, with nothing but a flashlight to illuminate the proceedings. You have to find objects to solve puzzles and solve mysteries, all the while running from a scary… well, I don’t want to give it away.

Presentation is very good, the game looks and sounds good, support co-op play (!), and for only 80 Microsoft Points it’s worth snagging for horror and/or adventure fans.

Here’s what the developer (Milkstone Studios S.L.) has to say about the game:

“A pure horror experience in your Xbox! Find the 8 hidden clues in an unsettling forest, and avoid being hunted by a supernatural being lurking in the shadows. Will you manage to uncover the truth about the mysterious events?”
