While it isn’t perfect, “Avatars on the edge” has a lot going for it. The animation is smooth and (generally) attractive, and the gameplay reminds me a bit of old-school extreme sport exploration games like Trickstyle, Jet Set Radio, and Tony Hawk Underground.
Even comparisons to Re-Volt could be apt, as really it’s a race game at its heart, as you skateboard around a cityscape. The joy is in exploring the levels, looking for short-cuts, etc. It’s 80 Microsoft Points with solo play, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer, and it’s a lot of fun.
Here’s what the developer (mancebo) has to say about the game:
“Come on! Grab your board and challenge gravity! Jump from the roof of the buildings performing crazy stunts. Surpass yourself on twelve timetrials or challenge your friends online. Feel the wind on your face and laugh at danger to get your name to the top of the scoreboards.”
