If you played the 2009 PC title of the same name, then you have an idea of what to expect from “The Chickening”, an updated version of that four year old Windows title.
It’s surrealism for it’s own sake as you platform your way through levels inspired by every painting and art film that you appreciated… but never quite understood. Upside down running shoes? Teddy bears with treads on the bottom and a turret on top? Airplane squirrels? A chicken that shoots lasers out of its eyes? Why not. It’s a $1 guilty pleasure that’s well done, bad puns and all.
Here’s what the developer (Softwaresoft) has to say about the game:
“The Chickening is a run and gun platformer video game about a chicken who shoots lasers.. out of his eyes.”
P.S. I hate to admit it, but I laughed at the name “Softwaresoft”. I’m surprised that that’s never been done before.
