From the publisher of “MegaCity” comes… well, comes something almost completely different.
“Six O’Clock High” brings back the things that I loved about “Time Pilot” in the ’80s (and the “Biplanes” mode of Intellivision cartridge “Triple Action”), and upgrades it hugely. Now you have big sprawling levels with substantially superior visuals and bosses. And whereas in Time Pilot you had to struggle through the enemies constantly getting better (as you moved forward in time), here the upgrades are on your side with a variety of improvements you can select between missions (if you earn them). Absolutely worth a dollar for fans of the genre, and the good presentation makes it accessible to people new to games like this. Easily beats the XBLA release of “Time Pilot” (which has a couple of achievements I annoyingly never could get, BTW).
Here’s what the publisher (ColePowered) has to say about the game:
“Is it a bird? Is it a plane? YES, it’s a plane! Six O’Clock High is a chaotic new aerial dogfighting game. Take to the skies with super easy and intuitive controls, luscious unique graphics and a thirst for gunpowder! The best fighter aces will be sent against you, do you have what it takes to win the day?”
