Feel like a match-3 game with a bit of a difference? I have skipped over my share of match-3 games that didn’t manage to differentiate itself, but this one caught my attention. From the publisher of “Little Flappers” and “Dinora”, comes “Match-A-Monster”, a game that tasks you with matching up things on a grid, but instead of the luxury of pushing just those few things you want, you have to push the entire grid every time. Every tile that can move does; only the ones with no free space in that direction won’t move. This movement mechanic is similar to yesterday’s “2048: Xbox 360 Edition”, but plays out fairly differently since the goal is to line rows of tiles up for elimination rather than trying to merge them together.
Careful pre-plotting is the key to a very high score, and that’s what I look for in a game like this. Absolutely worth a look if you have a hankering for a matching-style puzzle game.
Here’s what the publisher (Psychdyke) has to say about the game:
“Puzzle game combining the sliding mechanic of games like Three’s and 2048 with the more traditional 3 in a row matching game play. Includes 100 level challenge mode and global scoreboards.”
