Xbox 360 review (XBLIG): The Impossible Game Level Pack

Posted: 2014/06/13 in Indie Games

This is more a “be aware this thing exists” post, be cause if you played the original “The Impossible Game” and enjoyed it, then why wouldn’t you want a whole new long and incredibly difficult level to try (and repeatedly fail) to beat? And that’s exactly what “The Impossible Game Level Pack” would have offered, except it offers something else: *two* new levels, rather than just one.

What amazes me about these two games is how ridiculously durably they’ve stayed near the top of the charts. Other XBLIG successes came and went, whether it was “I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1”, or “FishCraft”, or “FortressCraft Chapter 1” (which I never did get around to reviewing). Through it all, the two “Impossible Games” stayed in the top 50, and I didn’t review either of them until Day 1294. I’m curious about how much money they’ve made their creator, but it must be substantial. I’m surprised there’s never been a third one. As I write this, the “The Impossible Game” is rated #6 in the Canadian store (and typically high up when I look at the best selling lists for other countries), and the “The Impossible Game Level Pack” is #36. Absolutely unbelievable for games released in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

Here’s what the publisher (FlukeDude) has to say about the game:

“Two brand new levels, each with a new, awesome soundtrack! Make sure you play ‘The Impossible Game’ first before trying this.”
